Description
The loft is located on Kattenberg in Borgerhout, intra-muros between Vinçotteplein and Krugerpark. Barely visible from the street. Between the green oasis behind the gate, we catch only a glimpse of the rear brick industrial buildings with rectangular wall openings. Originally composed of stables, a stone quarry, storage spaces for slate and slaked lime, a boiler house and forge with chimney, a machine room, a workshop for 'broyeurmortels', a mechanical joinery and an office pavilion. A moment of (reading) rest. The activity was exchanged 120 years later for peace and greenery. A loft is a dwelling consisting of one space, containing all the facilities one needs. A characteristic of a loft is that the space is high. Often these are old factory buildings, schools or warehouses converted into lofts. These properties have a characteristic appearance and high windows. The space we rent meets this description almost completely, with ceilings of no less than 4 meters 50 high and a structure of exposed concrete and brick. Furthermore, an open space of 165 m² with a kitchen, an open bathroom, 2 cozy corners where you can sleep and many built-in closets. In the morning you walk from the sleeping area, via a cast iron staircase, over the catwalk to the bathroom. After your performance you can choose between a fresh shower or a warm bath. Because the loft is located in a rear building, you enjoy all the peace and quiet in the heart of BoHo. The common costs amount to 20 euros per month and are a provision for the private consumption costs for water, electricity and the maintenance of the common parts and the garden, the block policy, the elevator and the management fee of the syndic. The parking space must be rented at 100 euros per month.
